At the 2022 Level 9 Eastern Championships, Region 5 placed 37 athletes in the top 10 on Balance Beam, there was not an age group that did not have a Region 5 athlete on the medal stand. Balance Beam has always been a strong event for Region 5 athletes with multiple Level 9 & Level 10 National Champions in the event.

Level 9 beam is known for unique flight series, interesting mounts and clean form, all things that will translate beautifully to Level 10 in the coming years.  In 2022, Region 5 took 6 Eastern National Beam titles, the majority coming in the Senior age groups.

It’s not much of a surprise for Region 5 to win the all around in multiple age groups at Level 9 Easterns. However it is always exciting to see how many athletes achieve that goal of being the Eastern AA Champion. In 2022, Region 5 won 8 of 16 age groups but also had 20 athletes (including the 8 AA champs) finish in the top 5.

These 8 talented athletes all have different styles and strengths to their gymnastics but all are fun to watch. 2022 Level 9 Eastern Champions on Bars

presented by: A1 Awards

Level 9 bars of all the events is the most compulsory, not that the skills are easy or basic, but that almost everyone does the same combinations for bonus. In comparison with events like beam and floor where the music and choreography give the routines different flair and composition, bars doesn’t have that luxury; circles, pirouettes and bar to bar releases is what you get.

However this list of athletes stood out amongst the pack executing the previous mentioned skills with ease while putting up some of the highest scores of the entire competition on bars. In addition to these 6 national champions plus two more eye catching routines, we have to acknowledge the top scoring bars team of the entire competition and yes they were from REGION 5!
