Summer training as come to an end and the fall prep for season has begun. The new skills and combos are still being learned and mastered for routines in the 2022 competition season . As our gymnasts work towards their goals for 2022, we will still be featuring these upgrades every Monday on Making Moves Monday through the month of September.

Jenna Olshefski, Universal Gymnasts (Class of 2023) 2021 Level 10 National Qualifier
In this episode of Coaches Wired, Perfection’s Enrique Trabanino is mic’d during his two Senior E’s bar rotation at the 2021 Level 10 Dev Nationals. Listen in as Enrique gives his normal pre -competition talk that is a mix of technique cues and positive motivational statements to get his athletes in the right state of mind. Both do bar to bar release connections so the theme is Flow with a W. Watch as seniors Laura Soltis and Katya Sander compete in their last nationals.
Region 5 had a successful 2021 DEV Nationals competition. Though our region came into the competition as the defending super team champions from 2019, finishing 3rd overall in 2021 was a huge accomplishment. Many of our gyms didn’t return to full actual in gym training (Covid shutdown) until September or October. We won three individual all around titles and 11 individual event titles with many more top 10 finishes. Here is a breakdown of each age group.
Junior elites Gabby Van Frayen and Izzy Stassi from Gym-Xtreme took us along during USA Championships week to show us the behind the scenes at their first championships. This was the first time Gym-Xtreme had qualified elites to championships. The week begins with a mock style meet at the gym and send off party then off to Texas. We get to see as they take part in training prior to competition beginning and a few surprise guests join the vlog. Both athletes had good competitions with Gabby making it onto the USA Junior National Team and Izzy being invited to attend the National team camps.
