The atmosphere was loud and the gymnastics was rocking during the last session at the 2024 UGA Invite. This competition served as a Nastia Cup qualifier and featured three sessions of level 10’s (one junior and two senior sessions). There were six 38+ scores across the 3 sessions.
Legacy Elite’s Madison Gustitus lead the way with a 38.5 and qualified to her first Nastia Cup. Maddie won floor with a 9.7 which was the highest floor score of the competition. She combines strong tumbling (opens with a full in) with the artistic component which features some break dancing. She finished the competition on balance beam with her huge text book front tuck for a 9.625.
Bailey Stroud of JPAC rocked bars with a beautiful Ray pac combo for the highest score across all four events in the competition of a 9.875. She posted a 38.15 in the all around despite a fall on beam which was the second highest score of the competition.
Cincinnati’s Ellie Monahan must like the number 3 at least in this competition. She finished 3rd in session three and had the 3rd highest all around score with a 38.125. Ellie showed how beam is to be done nailing her aerial 1 1/2 dismount for a 9.8 to win the event.
Ella Kate Parker from Cincinnati dropped back from elite this past fall and competed in her first level 10 meet ever. She won the junior session with a 38.175 to be named the junior Nastia Cup qualifier. She is competing a new vault (layout arabian) but has kept many of the skills she used in elite in her level 10 routines which includes her Ricna Pac on bars. However, EK is always at home on beam which she tied for the 2nd highest score of the competition with a 9.675. She tied Libertyville’s Julia Rausa and ironically both do aerial layout step out for their flight series.
Aubree Guinee from Legacy Elite scored a 38.05 to finish 4th in the senior standings and always impresses with her round off full in opening pass on floor (video below). Avery Schlichting (Smiley) from Energym was in a battle all day with EK in the junior session and scored a 38.0 winning bars with a 9.7 and added her full after her Rudi in her last pass to win floor (junior session) with a 9.55.
Addie Sarisky from Olympic Dreams posted two of the highest scores in the competition on bars (9.7) and floor (9.7) to win the all around with a 37.425 in the middle session of the day despite a fall on beam.
However, as in all competitions, there are many routines that stand out for one reason or another and either are missed or just overshadowed by other routines. Here are 10 routines that HEY….. YOU NEED TO PRESS PLAY!
Aubree Guinee, Legacy Elite 9.625 on Floor.
Check out the Round off Full in in her opening pass. Look for this in the Iowa State line-up next year.
Katie Ferguson, JPAC Bars 9.6
Katie is currently specializing on bars only but she is one of the best in the Region on the event. NIU can’t wait for this routine next season.
Julia Rausa, Libertyville Beam 9.675
Julia is always an athlete to keep your eye on as she has big skill on all four events but her beam flight is second to none (not even EK……. They tied that’s the joke!)
Aliyah Kelly, UGA Bars 9.475
Aliyah flys on her Gienger and ends with a full twisting double layout. Look for this routine as well at NIU next year.
Elizabeth Poncin, UGA Bars 9.35
Elizabeth has a very nice blind 1/1 Gienger
Peyton Pech, Aspire Vault 9.55
Peyton always has a big vault
Claire Rieder, Queen City Bars 9.425
Claire is always a must watch on bars as she dismounts bars with a double front.
Elaina Sliney, Cincinnati Beam 9.6
First year in level 10, Elaina has a difficulty packed beam routine including a very nice triple flight.
Kylie Smith, Cincinnati Floor 9.55
Kylie is competing a full in in her first year of level 10
Reilan Garvey, UGA Floor 9.4
The facial expressions Reilan gives during this routine are on point and love the music edit.
