Qualification Results
The first big championships competition since the Paris Olympics, the 2025 European Championships serves as a kickoff to the next four year quad and the road to the LA Olympic Games.
Why am I recapping the European Championships you might ask?
Well Region 5 has four current or former athletes competing in these European Championships with 3 making their return to this competition, all competing in 2024.
After a long NCAA season, Mizzou’s rising sophomore and Finland National Team Member Kaia Tanskanen, competing in her 4th Euros hit all four events for a 51.132 including a 13.133 on her always nice layout Kaz to finish the qualifications round in 14th and qualified to her second Euro AA final. She also found time to change her floor routine since the NCAA season. Kaia also will represent Finland in the first ever Mix Team Event with her boyfriend Robert Kirmes (Finland Men’s National Team)
Lilia Cosman, 2024 Romanian Olympian, struggled on her double wolf turn on beam and her bars dismount (though the rest of both routines were very nice), however nailed her new whip double back first pass (whip 2 1/2 front tuck in Paris) and also competing a brand new floor routine for a 12.6. She finished with a 49.966 not too far off her Olympic qualification all around score of 50.132 to start the elite season. We are very excited to see her in the Green and White of Michigan State in 2026. Video link
Just off her performance at the 2025 DEV Nationals and competing in her 2nd European Championships, Natalia Puldelko from City Club represented Poland competing in the senior level (junior in 2024) and improved her all around score by 0.6 over last year finishing with a 46.066. Natalia hit all her routines with her high score coming on vault and her nice Yurchenko full for 12.7. She added a very nice layout step out mount to her beam routine and competed a completely different bar routine then at Level 10 Nationals and landed her double layout dismount which she fell on in Salt Lake City. She hit all four events including a very nice wolf double and aerial back handspring series on beam for an 11.766 on the event. She scored a 46.03 in the AA to finish 54th out of the 71 gymnast field. Video Link
