In this episode of Coaches Wired, we listen in as Aspire Gymnastics vault coach Brandon Fields preps Level 10 Kaitlyn Schwab during the JRE session at the 2022 DEV Nationals. Brandon, who represented New Zealand at the world championships, is an excellent vault coach and gives Kaitlyn last minute encouragement to do a very nice layout Yurchenko. Brandon pumps up his athletes giving them a sense of confidence to do their best vaults.
She is known by only one letter “Q” but do you really know much about Iowa Senior JerQuavia Henderson. We take her back to her years in Region 5, find out how her achilles injury during her Freshman year impacted her more then she ever imagined as well how food in important to her life but not as you would think. Jasmine You from Legacy Elite was mic’d during the JRC Vault rotation at the 2022 Level 10 DEV Nationals. This is the first time we have wired our alternates at nationals but it was well worth it. Jasmine showed that each member of the team in Region 5 is important as she took the roll of team hype girl to the max. She was a cheerleader, mat setter, high fiver…. pretty much set the tone with her Power Stance! Check out this fun behind the scenes look at the JRC’s on vault.
There have been some deductions added to beam for which judges are going to be looking at taking during the 2022-23 competition season. One of those is for insufficient rhythm and tempo with the beam choreography. Judge Christi Kearns explains the new rule changes and then has a group of level 9 and 10’s work through several different examples of rhythm and tempo. This was filmed at the 2022 Level 9 High Tech High Performance Camp.
