Vault was won by Lauren Eyssen from Xtreme Gymnastics with a 9.45, and Taylor Mann from Perfection won bars with a 9.275

Katy Puplava from Indiana GTC won the Senior A group with a 35.85 including a nice Yurchenko 1/1, and very nice Jaeger on bars for a second place 9.2 on bars. The top bar (9.45) and beam (9.175) routines came from Perfection’s Breeyln Rickey. The top vault of the competition and only Yurchenko 1 1/2, went to Cady Duplissis from Champion USA. Emily Gianfranceso from CPD Mount Prospect showed a good mix of artistry and solid tumbling to win floor with a 9.325

Esphyr Koren from Perfection Gymnastics won the Junior A age group with a 35.75 along with the floor title with a 9.1. Darielis Aviles from Perfection won vault with a very nice Yurchenko 1/1 for a 9.65. It was the tail of two Rae…. Rea gans in this age group. The top bars score for the competition went to the big release and swing of Reagan Nowak from Branch Gymnastics with her 9.625. Reagan has a very nice Hindorff release along with very nice double layout. Flipstar’s Raegan McCarty nailed her unique round off back tuck flight series to win beam with the meet high beam score of 9.375.

As we get ready for the championship part of the season, I wanted to spotlight some routines from our meet that stood out. HEY Press Play on these 6 routines.

Darielis Aviles from Perfection has a very nice Yurchenko 1/1 on vault and received the 2nd highest vault score of the competition. Darielis was a 2022 DEV National Team Member

Olivia Sabin, Flytz won beam in her age group with this routine that includes a very nice triple flight. Olivia is a 2023 DEV National Qualifier

Lauren Eyssen, X-treme Gymnastics is one to look out for during the championship season. She performed a nice Yurchenko 1/1 on vault.

Kaity Puplava, GTC has a nice combo of blind jaeger into bail and is another we should keep an eye on this year.

Emily Gianfrancesco, CPD Mount Prospect has a strong floor routine including a beautiful 2 1/2 second pass and very nice flexibility on her leaps and jumps. Emily is in her 2nd year of level 10 and has made huge improvements in her overall gymnastics another one to watch.

Breelyn Rickey, Perfection bars is always a pleasure to watch with very nice toe shoot shape into Gienger release. I love her toe front pike 1/2 dismount as we don’t see very often. Breelyn is a 2023 DEV National Qualifier

Nastia Seven Intro Video

Kentucky International Convention Center played host to the 2024 Nastia Cup in conjunction with the Winter Cup elite competition. This was the second consecutive year the event was hosted in Louisville. The Nastia Cup is a very popular event that level 10’s around the country set as a goal at the start of the club invitationals begin in January. Twenty two invitationals around the country were designated as qualifiers with one junior (15 and younger) and one senior (16 and older) qualifier from each moved onto the Nastia Cup.

Region 5 is always well represented at the cup each year and 2024 was much the same with seven participating in this years competition. We had many new faces to the cup this year with only one of the seven having competed in a previous Nastia Cup that being Gabby Van Frayen from Gym Xtreme.

The junior champion came out of Region 5 and Cincinnati gymnastics. Ella Kate Parker, competing in her first year in DEV program since she was a level 6 (former junior elite) won the competition with an all around total of 38.075. Ella Kate nailed her new Yurchenko layout 1/2 on vault and grabbed the individual beam title with a very solid routine featuring her beautiful aerial layout step out for a 9.775

Kylie Smith from Cincinnati tied for 5th in the junior all around with a 37.35. Kylie was a level 9 in 2023 and has made a quick rise into the level 10 ranks. She opens her floor routine with a very nice full-in, competes a triple flight, and has a big Jaeger on bars. She was a fall on beam away from making it a top 2 sweep in the all around. However, Kylie broke into the top five tying for 5th place on floor with a 9.55.

Another level 9 in 2023, Quinlyn Rollins from Queen City struggled a bit on bars but was pretty solid on beam for a 7th place 9.375. She has a very nice layout layout series but omitted it due to being slightly off on her layout.

The top finisher in the senior age group was Madison Gustitus from Legacy Elite who finished 11th in the all around with a 37.85. Madison is always fun to watch on floor and her performance at Nastia earned her a 7th place finish with this 9.7 routine.

Stuck half in half out and a top 5 finish on bars for Olympic Dreams Addie Sarisky along with a solid overall performance landed her in 13th place with a 37.775. Check out her bar routine below.

Lisa Szeibert from JPAC, who had been training in Romania since the end of 2023, tied Nastia veteran Gabby Van Frayen for 17th with 37.375. Lisa broke into the top 10 on beam with a 9.55, attacking every landing including her two back handsprings to 1 1/2 dismount which she stuck cold. Gabby had a strong bar routine but changed her floor routine a bit since Coaches Spectacular switching up the first pass from a triple full to a front layout front double full which she stepped out of bounds but nailed her double back last pass for a 9.425.
