Senior Lauren Bottrell is ending her gymnastics career in the same place she started it, at Splitz Gymnastics in Canton, Michigan. Lauren has found success with Region 5 presenting our great region at the JO Nationals multiple times. Lauren is halfway through her last season as a JO gymnast, still undecided on her plans for college, I hope college gymnastics will be in her future. Lauren could contribute to many teams around the country. I look forward to seeing where she will continue her gymnastics career after graduation. Let’s get to know Lauren a little bit better as she gets ready to close this chapter in her story and move forward to the next.
How did you get into gymnastics? How old were you? got into gymnastics because I would always be running around the house and jumping on things so my parents put me in a class. I was 3 years old when I started.
What is your favorite event? My favorite event is bars.
What is your favorite part of gymnastics? My favorite part of gymnastics is being able to see my teammates everyday and make friendships that will last forever.
What college do you plan on attending? I am undecided what college I will be attending next year.
What is your favorite meet to compete at? My favorite meet to compete at is JO Nationals.
Biggest accomplishment in gymnastics so far? My biggest accomplishment in gymnastics so far is making it to JO Nationals as a level 10.
Favorite skill to train and/or compete? My favorite skill to compete is my bar dismount, which is a half in half out.
Dream skill? My dream skill is a front Aerial on beam.
Who do you admire most in the sport of gymnastics? I admire Laurie Hernandez.
What is your all-time favorite leotard? Do you still have your very first
leo? My all time favorite leotard is my team leotard this year. I don’t think I have my very first leotard.
What is your favorite movie? My favorite movie is Safe Haven.
What is your go to playlist or song before meets? I always listen to Chris Brown before meets.
What do you want to be when you grow up? I’m undecided what I want to be when I grow up.
Where do you go to High School? I go to North Farmington High
School.
What is your favorite color? My favorite color is purple.
What do you like to do outside of gymnastics? Outside of the gym I like to hang out with friends and go to hockey games.
Favorite gymnastics moment? My favorite gymnastics moment is the first time I made Eastern Nationals as a level 9.
If you weren’t a gymnast, what sport would you do or try? If I wasn’t a gymnast I would play hockey.
If you could live anywhere in the world where would you live? If I could live anywhere I would live in Paris.
If you could have a lunch with anyone dead or alive who would it be and why? If I could have lunch with anyone dead or alive, it would have to be Theo James because he’s very good looking.
Tell me something interesting about yourself…..Something interesting about myself is I used to play hockey when I was younger.
