Region 5 Roll UP- 2024 Level 10 State Recap

It’s regionals week for our Level 9 and 10’s but we are rolling back to the highlights from our Level 10 state meets around our region as a lead up into the regional championships.

Illinois

Results: Junior A | Junior B | Senior A | Senior B

Legacy Elite Won the Illinois Level 10 State Team title (all groups combined)

In the Junior A age group, Avery Schlichting from Energym won the AA with a 37.4 tumbling her way to the floor title with a 9.7. Her floor routine features an awesome front to back twist combo into a jump. Breaking the 37 mark as well, Isla Lazzari finished 2nd in the AA with a 37.2 and was very balanced on beam for the event title with a 9.425. Sydney Fazio from Premier West was top 7 on all four events and just under the 37 mark landing her on the award podium in 3rd with a 36.95. Ellie Mayer from Legacy Elite has upgraded her bars dismount to a full out this season and showed out as the champion with a 9.5. It’s always exciting to see the Junior A’s have power vaulting and Carla Fronc from Crystal Lake has just that, a very nice Yurchenko full for a 9.625 and the vault title.

Junior B all around was dominated by Cameron Tassone from IK as she won bars (9.725), beam (9.475) and floor (9.7) on her way to a huge 38.625. She has upgraded her bars, floor and vault this season. Madison Stewart for Legacy Elite continues her comeback from Achilles surgery won vault with a 9.8 and grabbed 2nd place in the AA 37.85. Maddie (better known as Taz) has a Yurchenko 1 1/2 on vault so interested if we will see it at regionals. Julia Rausa from Libertyville took 3rd in the all around but finished 2nd on both bars (huge Ray) and floor (very nice presentation).

Phenom senior, who is headed to Talladega University in fall, Ariana Goodwin won the Senior A all around title 37.825 and won the beam title with a 9.575. Chicago Park District’s first ever L10 National Qualifier Lulu Ton That was 2nd AA with a 36.95 and has upgraded her vault to a Yurchenko full this season. In 3rd place was Emma Becker from BIG with a 36.85 and tied for the vault title with a 9.625. The Vault title was a three way tie, along with Becker, was Kyler Webster from Aspire and Delanie Kelly from Legacy Elite who also took home the floor title with a beautiful 2 1/2 front tuck last pass.

San Jose State might have been eliminated from this years NCAA Regionals in the Cal Regional Play In, but 2024 Nastia Cup Qualifier Madison Gustitus is sure to play into many of their line-ups next season. Madison, who is from Legacy Elite, won the Senior B title with a 38.85 while also taking the beam (9.825) and floor titles (9.675). Aliyah Kelly from UGA, who is off to NIU this fall, moonwalked and full in(ed) her way to 2nd AA with a 37.925. Her teammate at UGA and future MAC Conference foe, Reilan Garvey finished 3rd AA 37.875. Reilan will join the 2024 MAC Champion Western Michigan Broncos in the fall. Aspire’s Alexis Holmes grabbed two titles winning the vault (9.775) and as well as bars with this very impressive routine for a 9.85.

Michigan

Michigan Elite Gymnastics won the 2024 Level 10 Team Title (all age groups combined)

In the Junior A age group, Cailyn Waibel from Bay Valley won the all around 37.325 and took the bar title 9.475 and has made some huge improvements on her execution. Reagan Nowak from Branch Gymnastics finished 2nd AA 37.275 despite a fall on bars.However, it’s great to see Reagan back in the all around as she has competed just on bars and beam most of the season. She did compete her Yurchenko 1/1 at state which is new. Macy Nihart from Capitol City finished 3rd AA 36.925. Gym America athletes took 3 of the event titles with Amina Mackalo winning vault 9.65 and floor 9.55 while Melia Goldsmith punch Rudi (ed) her way to the beam title 9.525.

Emma Brookins from Olympia tumbled her way to the Junior B floor title 9.575 and onto the top of the podium as the all around champion 37.2. Claire Donahue from Bay Valley finished 2nd in the AA 37.125 and won bars 9.15. Third all around was Ome Ellis from Michigan Elite with a 36.95. Ashlyn Doyle from Champion USA won the vault with her very nice FTY and a 9.575. Annabelle Alber from Mid Michigan tied Claire for the gold on bars 9.15. Champion USA took another event title in this age group as Kendall (KP) Pinkelman aerial aerial (ed) oh and can’t forget about the side somi to win the beam title with a 9.475.

The Senior age group was pretty much dominated by another Champion USA gymnast Cady Duplissis winning vault 9.775 with a very nice Yurchenko 1 1/2, beam 9.525 and floor 9.65 to total a 38.475 and the all around win. Alisia Murray from Hunts finished 2nd AA 37.125. Kennedy Cooper from Michigan Elite was 3rd AA 37.1 and tied for the bars title with a 9.625. Kennedy tied her teammate Keeley Kohler for the bars title.

Indiana

Results: Junior | Senior

JPAC won the 2024 Level 10 Team Title (all age groups combined)

The Junior age group was dominated by JPAC’s Bailey Stroud who had the only 39.00 all around total of all level 10’s at state in Region 5. She won all four events posting a high of 9.875 on vault. 2nd place went to JPAC’s Ella Hargreaves with a 37.35. Ella’s high score was also on vault as took 2nd with a 9.55. Alli Szymanski from Set-10 was 3rd AA 36.45.

The Senior age group event titles were won by 5 different gymnasts with 2024 Nastia Cup Qualifier JPAC’s Lisa Szeibert taking the floor title 9.625 on her way to the all around championship 38.325. Winning the vault 9.775, tying for the beam title and taking 2nd all around 37.775 was Drake White from The Flip Zone. The bar champion was JPAC’s Katie Ferguson 9.6 who also claimed the 3rd all around spot 37.025. Drake shared the beam title with her team Chris Cutler with a 9.6.

Ohio

Results: Junior A | Junior B | Junior C | Senior A | Senior B | Senior C

Gym Xtreme won the 2024 Level 10 Team Title (all age groups combined)

Cincinnati Gymnastics took the top 2 spots in the Junior A age group with 2024 Nastia Cup Qualifier Kylie Smith won 3 events vault 9.625, bars 9.725, and floor 9.6 to take the all around title 37.9. In the 2nd spot was Elaina Sliney with a 37.7. Queen City’s Quinlyn Rollins, also a 2024 Nastia Cup Qualifier, finished 3rd with a 37.375 and won beam with a 9.525.

In the Junior B age group Esphyr Koren from Perfection took the top spot with a 37.325 and won two individual events, bars 9.575 and floor 9.45. Payton Scott from Gym Word won beam 9.25 and took 2nd all around 36.275. The vault was won with the beautiful FTY of Darielis Aviles from Perfection 9.65 on her way to 3rd in the AA 36.025.

Another 2024 Nastia Qualifier to win the all around was Addie Sarisky from Olympic Dreams taking the Junior C title 37.7 winning vault 9.5, bars 9.7 and beam 9.65 in the process. Bailee Norris from Flytz took 2nd AA with a 36.9. Kate Walendzak from Buckeye took 3rd AA 36.75. Chase Morrow from Performance won the floor title with a 9.325.

Gabby Van Frayen from Gym Xtreme, another 2024 Nastia Cup Qualifier won the Senior A age group with a 38.975 and won 3 event titles bars 9.85, beam 9.625 and floor 9.8. Maggie Waterstreet, also from Gym Xtreme was 2nd AA 37.5 and adds another vault title to her resume for 2024 with the state title 9.725. Olivia Sabin from Flytz was 3rd AA 36.775.

Universal Gymnasts took 2 of the top 3 spots in the Senior B all around with Layla Bobek winning with a 37.7 and Karleigh Reutzel taking 3rd with a 37.2 and tying for the floor title with a 9.7. Sandwiched in between them was Carly Stalder from Five Star who finished 2nd with a 37.55 and tied the other Karleigh for the floor title. The vault title was won by the big 9.8 handspring front pike of Autumn Rardin from Gym Xtreme who also won the beam title 9.5. Claire Rieder from Queen City won the bar title 9.7.

In Senior C, 4 stood on the awards podium as there was a 3 way tie for 2nd but taking the state title was Ave Wellmeier, Universal scoring a 37.85 and swinging her way to the bar tile with a 9.525. Two from Cincinnati, Ellie Monahan and Alexis Schulman, as well as Buckeye’s Ella Beck tied for 2nd with a 36.95. Gym World grabbed two individual events titles with JO JO Valahovic won vault 9.775, and Grace Kortora on beam 9.375. Emerson Smith from Buckeye won floor 9.75 with her always impressive first pass Full in from a Round Off.

Kentucky

Results: All Ages

Kentucky only had one age group as they had 6 athletes do the all around. Mila Halpin from KGA took the all around title with a 37.2 as well as vault 9.55, and beam 9.475. Aryi Goodwin from Agility was 2nd AA 36.275 and won bars 9.175. In 3rd was Markel Mattingly from Excel with a 36.1. Keke Wright from KGA won floor with a 9.7 and a very nice full in for a first pass.
