Hartford, July 17 2026- The future of American gymnastics was on full display Friday night as the nation’s top HOPES athletes gathered at PeoplesBank Arena in Hartford, Connecticut, for the 2026 USA Gymnastics Hopes Championships. Serving as the national championship for the Hopes program, the competition showcased the country’s most promising gymnasts in the 11–12 and 13–14 age divisions.

Legacy Elites Agnes Song (13-14) finished 5th all around in her 2nd HOPES Championships with a 48.3 qualifying her to the 2026 HOPES National Team. Agnes started off the competition strong on floor finishing with a nice double pike and a 12.15. The balance beam is where Cincinnati’s Marian Guerrrero stands out amongst the crowd winning the 13-14 beam championship with the only non vault 13.0 in the entire competition. Her 13.05 was tops giving her the 4th beam title of this competition season, winning L9 Regionals, Easterns and HOPES Classic on the event. Marian improved her all around score by 5 tenths 47.7 and finished tied for 9th.

In her second HOPES Championships in as many years, Claudia Lasek (11-12) finished in the top 10 with an all around score of 48.00 improving over 2.5 points and moving up 8 spots from HOPES Classic in the process. Claudia upgraded to a triple fight series on beam and almost stuck her double full for a 12.35 and a bronze medal.

Beyond the medals, the Hopes Championships proved to be a great close to our Region 5 trio’s season with many successes in the DEV portion of the season as well. It will be very exciting to see Claudia and Marian take on their first level 10 season in 2027, and Agnes looking to compete in her 3rd DEV National Championships. We will see these three on the elite stage very soon and that will be very exciting for our Region.

Minneapolis, June 26, 2026 — The 2026 HOPES Classic took place in conjunction with the American Classic on Friday at Twin City Twisters Gymnastics in Minnesota. This competition serves as the qualifying meet for the upcoming Hopes Championships in Harford in late July. Many of these athletes, including 3 of our 4 Region 5 athletes, competed this past season in level 9 or 10 and qualified to Easterns or DEV Nationals. These Hopes competitions are a testing ground for athletes aiming to break into the elite level of competition. The rules for Hopes are modified versions of the elite requirements.

            Qualifying Scores:
11-12 (44.5) 13-14 (46.5)

Hopes 13-14: Agnes Song (Legacy Elite)- 48.6 was Region 5’s top all around finisher with her 4th place finish. Agnes just completed her second year of level 10 finishing 7th overall. She has qualified for her second Hopes Championships in a row. Agnes always stands out on bars and beam and that held true in this competition: bars (11.9) beam (12.5), finishing top 5 on both.

Marian Guerrero (Cincinnati) – 47.2 finished 7th in the all around and qualified for her first Hopes Championships. Marian won balance beam with 13.0. She was the 2026 Level 9 Eastern JR2 all around, beam and floor champion. Her gymnastics is eye catching with the form, flexibility and overall performance quality.

Elisia Crespo (JPAC)- 45.4 had a good competition on her first 3 events but unfortunately had some struggles on beam her final event. Elisia had some great highlights including a nice Yurchenko full on vault, Ray on bars and very nice 1/2 in 1/2 out off bars. She was unable to participate in the DEV season this year due to injury but made it back in time to qualify to the Hopes Classic. She is one to keep an eye on moving forward.

Hopes 11-12: Claudia Lasak (Legacy Elite)- 45.6 was Region 5’s only competitor in this age group and she qualified to her second Hopes Championships. Claudia was 2nd in the all around for Junior 1 at Easterns and took home a share of the bar title this season. However in this competition, beam was her stand out finishing 6th with a 12.2.

Looking ahead our three qualifiers will compete on the big stage… Podium Time! The goal.. qualify onto the Hopes national training squad which they will attend camps to help guide them and set them on the right track for elite success in the coming years.
