For many the season now has officially started!!! 2100 Gymnasts from 5 states and Canada gathered this weekend at the Summit in Dimondale, Michigan to participate in the 2017 Twistars Invitational hosted by Gedderts Twistars USA. I have been attending this Invitational, in one way or another, for the last 20 years. In the last 20 years a lot has certainly changed. In 1996 Great Lakes Gymnastics, with the Gedderts at the helm, hosted this Invitational at Jenison Field House on the campus of MSU, Katie Teft was the big name elite from Michigan, the table was a horse and there was no such thing as a snap chat let alone a snap chat filter. In 2017 Twistars USA, owned & operated by the Gedderts, hosts the Invitational at The Summit, Jordyn Wieber is the Olympian from Michigan everyone talks about, the competition had its very own snap chat filter and this meet is a qualifying event for one of the biggest JO competitions outside of Nationals. However, a few things that have remained constant in the last 20 years is the coveted athlete gift, the wonderful coaches hospitality, John Gedderts theme costumes and the high energy high volume of the level 10 session. When Twistars athletes take the floor it is like a football game and this year was no exception. The level of competition on the floor of the Level 10 Session was overwhelmingly amazing! From Gabby Wilson’s double twisting yurchenko vault to Kai Rivers crowd pleasing floor routine this was certainly the session to watch. Now that the weekend and the competition have come to an end, we can now officially say “The 2017 Season has Begun”  Level 10 Session results below.
