20 Questions with Future Bronco Dominique Militello (Bay Valley)

0

Bay Valley Academy’s Dominique Militello has completed her last year of JO Gymnastics, graduated High School and finished her last season of competitive dance. Dom, who has one of the most entertaining floor routines on the gymnastics floor, will be heading to Western Michigan University come August to compete as a member of the Broncos Gymnastics Team. Dominique, who was a first year Level 10 has spent her entire life doing gymnastics in her home-town of Bay City, Michigan with long time coach Nanci Moore. Not only can Dom rock the gymnastics floor, she is also a competitive dance title winner. This future Bronc has accomplished many great things in the sport of gymnastics such as being a Level 9 National All Around & Event Champion, a Michigan State Champion and has earned a spot on the WMU Gymnastics Team. Dominique will certainly be missed on the competition floor, but I am excited to see what the future holds for her in the world of college gymnastics and what amazing floor routines she will have in the years to come. Let’s get to know Dom a little better as she wraps up her summer with BVA and heads to the next chapter with WMU in the Fall.

How did you get into gymnastics? How old were you? I started gymnastics when I was 4 years old. My sister was taking recreational classes at Bay Valley so my mom got me started in some classes too.

What is your favorite event? My favorite event is floor

What is your favorite part of gymnastics? My favorite part of gymnastics is always being in shape and getting to perform at meets. To me, a routine on any even should be a performance.

What college do you plan on attending? I’ll be attending Western Michigan University for college and competing on the gymnastics team.

Dream skill? My dream skill is a ginger to an immediate bail on bars

Who do you most admire in the sport of gymnastics?  The person I admire most in the sport of gymnastics would be my coach, Nanci Moore

What is your all-time favorite leotard? Do you still your very first leo?My favorite Leo of all time is my old Bay Valley Warm up leo that is purple and has my name on the back, and says “Bay Valley” on the front. (Throwback to when BVA was purple) Sadly I do it have my very first leo, I gave it away to one of the littles at the gym

What is your favorite movie? My favorite movie has to be Matilda

What is your go to playlist or song before meets? Before meets I listen to either the “hype rap” or “rap caviar” playlists on Spotify. You should check them out you won’t be disappointed

What do you want to be when you grow up? When I grow up I want to be a profiler for the behavioral analysis unit of the F.B.I.

Where do you go to High School? I am now an alumni of Bay City Central High School

What is your favorite color? I don’t a favorite color, I love them all. That makes it pretty Ironic that my color choice for clothing is black though

What do you like to do outside of Gymnastics? When I’m not doing gymnastics I’m either binge watching a show on Netflix for hanging out with all my best friendsMost embarrassing meet moment or gymnastics moment?

What is your most embarrassing meet moment? My most embarrassing meet/gymnastics moment would have to be at states this year when I landed my vault flat on my back and flipped through the air in some weird frog position. I have a video of it

If you weren’t a gymnast, what sport would you do or try? When I took 3 years off of gymnastics I did volleyball and I really liked that, so if I wasn’t a gymnast I would probably be a a volleyball player. I also made Varsity Cheer my freshmen year but I quit before the first practice to go back to gymnastics ? so I probably would have done that too. I also would have probably tried diving and track & and field

Favorite Vacation Destination? Favorite vacation destination if I could choose anywhere would be Italy, or Rio De Janeiro

If you could have lunch with anyone dead or alive who would it be and why? If I could have lunch with anyone, dead or alive, it think I would choose my grandpa that I never got to meet

Tell me something interesting about yourself…. Something interesting about me is that I am also a member of the Bay Valley Academy Competitive Dance Team and my High School Dance Team

20 Questions with National Qualifier Alyssa Keller (All American Flames)

0

Alyssa Keller of All American Flames in Michigan is certainly one to watch. I first noticed Keller last year as a Level 9 athlete because of her incredible tuck full Tsuk vault. This vault was certainly eye catching because it was a rare thing to see in Level 9. So, every meet that the Lady Flames were at last season got me super excited because I knew I would see this vault! When I showed up to the first meet of the season and saw Alyssa competing Level 10 I knew everyone was in for a treat. Not only does Alyssa have a strong unique vault, she is also incredible to watch on the floor, with her powerful tumbling & sassy routine it’s definitely a performance to watch. Alyssa qualified to her first JO Nationals as a first year level 10 and even though she had to withdraw from the competition after two events she really left her mark. Alyssa competed a brand new vault in competition at JO Nationals, and was successful which was absolutely incredible to watch. Alyssa is entering her Senior Year this fall and is looking to make an impact in a huge way! Let’s get to know Alyssa a little bit better as she embarks on her final year of club gymnastics.
