Sydney Makarri Doggette is one of the top gymnasts not only in Region 5, but the country as well, having qualified to the U.S Classic Hopes Division (2x), Nastia Liukin Cup (3x), and JO National Championships (3x). Makarri has earned National Titles on the Vault (2017), Balance Beam (2015), Floor Exercise (2017) and the All-Around (2017). Makarri, who comes from a family of athletes, has always been a fan avorite with her high flying vaults, entertaining floor routine and of course her cheering pandas who never miss a competition. Watching Makarri compete is like watching an artist paint a masterpiece, she is so light on her feet and makes even the hardest skills look effortless it was no wonder why she scored a perfect 10 on the vault at the 2016 Buckeye Classic, even winning the 2016 Yahtzee Award for “Most Memorable Meet Moment” for the feat. As meet season is fast approaching lets get to know Makarri a little bit better as she prepares herself for what should be a fantastic season for this JO National All-Around Champion, but before the 2017-2018 begins Makarri will be honored this weekend at the 2017 Region 5 Banquet as one of the JO Athletes of the year and a member of the Region 5 All Star Team that will be traveling to Montreal, Canada in October.
