Level 10 Sophia Reddy from Eurostars Gymnastics in Michigan documented a few days of her current quarantine training life as gyms in Michigan are still closed. Sophia and her teammates have been traveling to Ohio a couple days a week to train at Sunrise Gymnastics. They are also training in the Eurostars parking lot as well as her homemade gym in her garage. Sophia’s training is not what most top level 10’s around the country are doing but she is doing her best to stay in shape in hopes Michigan will open soon.
Normally around this time of year we would be getting ready for the 2020 Region 5 Gymnastics Banquet, this year is a bit different, there were no State Meets, no Region 5 Championships, no JO Nationals and no Region 5 Banquet. However, the Region 5 Insider has prevailed and continued to bring you content from around the Region. As well as continuing with our favorite traditions such as the Top 10 Favorite Leotards and the Yahtzee Awards. It is important for us in this crazy time to continue to honor and recognize our exceptional athletes and coaches here in Region 5.
For the next week you will have the opportunity to view the nominees and vote for your favorites in almost all of our usual categories, due to COVID and the season being cut short some categories have been either eliminated or changed for this year. Voting will close for all categories Thursday September 3rd at Midnight. The winners will be announced Saturday September 5th Live on our Facebook and Instagram pages.

As we continue to adapt to our new normal for gymnastics training which includes social distancing and sanitizing stations/mats before rotating, Region 5 is making its way back with eyes set of 2021. During these first few weeks we will be featuring both old and new skills as everyone tries to recondition their bodies and minds to gymnastics again.

Our first All Access of the season is with the Flip Zone in Plainfield, Indiana. This video was filmed in late July during their 9th week back from the covid-19 quarantine. In this video we get a up close look at their level 9 and 10’s training on floor bars and beam. As with most gyms around the country, The Flip Zone returned to training slowly with drills and basics and now are starting to put the numbers in on the old skills and training new ones. Listen in as team coaches Irving, Chelsea and Michelle take us through their teams training.
