It’s that time of year again! The time to decide my top 10 favorite Region 5 Leotards, which is never an easy task. Especially because that means I have to make a list and if you have followed along with the Region 5 Insider you should all be well aware by now I cannot make a list without including extras. This year was an exceptionally difficult year as there were so many great leotards out on the competition floor it was hard to of course narrow the list to just 10. So sit back, relax and enjoy Part II of our top 10 (or more) favorite Region 5 Leotards with Leos 5-1 and find out which Leo earned the Top spot in 2024!
Honorable Mention Part 2:
IK: When I saw IK’s Leo I could not believe my eyes! They FINALLY got a new Leotard!!!! Ok! so please do not hate or come at me on this, I know why Irina loved the previous Leotard and the reason why she kept it for so long, and it was very IK for so many years! However, I was overjoyed to see this beautiful Spektrum Leotard! I Love the color, I the love the jewel pattern and I love how it photographs on the girls! For me this Leo is very IK for a new generation of IK gymnasts, I absolutely Love it and if Irina wants to keep it for a decade by all means do it because it’s fabulous!!
Hunts: Hunts is no stranger to a great Leo and this list, it was hard not putting them on the list this year because this Leo is stunning! I love how the blue pops right off this GK Leo! The design and jewel pattern reminds me of a corset type dress! Beautiful, elegant and classic. This is another that looks great on everyone!
Olympia: I absolutely LOVE that Olympia has gone with their signature ALL red for this years Leotard! This GK Leo again was one of my favorites, I even mocked it up for my own Leo as an option for this next year! For me this is classic Olympia and reminds me of Olympia Leos of the past when Annie Maxim, Mati Waligora, Izzy Redmond and Gabby Wilson were competing. For me an ALL Red Leo IS Olympia!
5. Great Lakes Elite (OH)
Great Lakes Elite certainly brought the sparkle to the competition floor! This Quatro Leo is one of the most eye catching Leos on the floor! Again I was instantly IN LOVE! I do wish the Teal was a little more vibrant, but other than this Leo is so classy and classic I had a hard time deciding where in the top 5 to put it.
4. Aspire (IL)
Aspire has definitely stepped up their Leo game in the last few years! As soon as I saw this one I instantly thought Michigan State, which meant I and many others instantly loved this Leo as well. My favorite part is the intricate jeweling on the waistline, the pattern is simply gorgeous and looks spectacular on everyone! The vertical pattern on the chest is also another flattering aspect of this SP Leotard.
3. Jaycie Phelps Athletic Center (IN)
JPAC never has disappointed in the Leo department and this year is no exception. For some there have been mixed feelings on this Leotard, but I love it! I continue to love how JPAC mixtures the colors of their past and present together with the blue, red and white then keeps things classy with the black. The vertical lines on the front are always an A+ in my book as well as the V waistline, which for me is so flattering and as everyone knows give a key hole back any day day of the week! This GK Elite Leotards is another that looks great on every athlete from the tiniest to the tallest and the oldest to the youngest! I mean Hell I even feel like I might look great in it!
2. Champion (KY)
As soon as I saw Champion’s Leo I as instantly IN LOVE, partly because it was red and black and partly because it reminded of me a Jester hat (my personal club is Gym Jesters). This is definitely a Leo that I could of seen my team having, I am sure it would look great in black and gold too. This is also one of Jason’s favorite Leos as well and if you know Jason he usually does not get involved to much with the Leos, but he really liked this one alone with X-tremes from the previous list. I also really loved the mixture of red and crystal jewels on this Ozone Leotard, it really made the girls stand out on the competition floor. The waistline belt was perfect as well making it look great on everyone.
1. Hocking Valley (OH)
As soon as I saw this Leo at Region 5 Championships I LOVED it! I know alot of teams have have this Leo, but no one has done it like Hocking Valley. The black makes the green absolutely POP along with the jewels on the chest! This is what absolutely caught my eye from across the floor in Kentucky, I instantly knew that this GK Leo was making this list I just did not know in what spot she would end up then I saw the back and I was completely sold on the top spot. I was not the only one with this Leo at the top of my list either! HV’s Leo garnered the most likes from those polled inside and outside of the Region. This was definitely a fan favorite.
